Yes. The trainee program is internationally oriented, and therefore we gladly accept applications from all countries. Very good German language skills are important as a matter of course, since the majority of departments in which you will operate are located in Germany.

The international trainee program is directed primarily toward recent college graduates.

We expect that your experience in foreign countries is based on a course of study, internship, or employment abroad. Participation in a language travel program or work such as an au pair position are not considered foreign country experience in this sense.

We expect a high level of motivation from trainees as well as an analytical and structured way of thinking. Trainees must have a winning personality and excellent communication skills as well as plenty of energy and confidence and an appetite for purposeful engagement. You show self-initiative and a professional demeanor at all times. We expect our trainees to master at least two languages fluently, one being English. A good knowledge of German is taken for granted.
 

If you live in Germany at the beginning of the trainee program, Benteler helps you with your request for an employment certificate. If your place of residence is abroad, we will support you in procuring information and completing the required application forms.

Our trainee program takes 18 months, including residence in a foreign country of approximately four months.

Yes. During the program Benteler trainees will participate in a variety of seminars and workshops. The continued education measures include such areas as presentation technologies, project management, personality development, and intercultural communication.

Every trainee is assigned a mentor from the upper management level who will support him or her during the program. This mentor will not only help you work out your program schedule, but also support you in your personal development.

A trainee's responsibilities depend on the job function. The entire range of tasks require a high degree of responsibility.

During the program you may work in at least three different areas for a certain period of time. You will work at the holding company as well as in at least two business divisions.

The majority of trainees will be employed in Paderborn, Germany, as their initial location, but starting at other sites is an option. Later you will work at the sites of our factories throughout Germany. The period abroad is spent in our headquarters and plants abroad. Mobility is a great advantage when selecting from the different possibilities of a work engagement in the various regions.

Customarily, trainees are evaluated by their direct superiors at the end of a work period. A feedback dialogue with the trainee supervisor takes place after every assessment.

After the conclusion of the international trainee program, the Human Resources department and your trainee mentor will meet to discuss finding the next suitable position for you. Successful performance in all stations is decisive for attaining the desired position at Benteler.

A job in a foreign Benteler plant is definitely possible. It is very important that you build relationships during your 18-month program for your period abroad.
