BENTELER fulfils its social responsibility worldwide – and we are pleased to do so. We actively promote the social interests of the locations in which we manufacture. As our company grows we also have a growing responsibility – for good neighborly relations and for a shared future.
We take part in charity activities and social initiatives in the vicinity of our sites and are particularly committed to projects supporting children, young people and education. We thereby give young people an opportunity to start a career and shape their future, regardless of their background and level of education.
Since 2017 we have been a member of “Startup Autobahn”, Europe's largest innovation platform, in which partners from industry and science work jointly with startups on mobility concepts. As a cooperation partner we support various university research projects and thus fulfil our social responsibility.
Operating sustainably for the benefit of the region in which we manufacture: that is the aspiration of the BENTELER Group. We take targeted measures to support the development of our sites, for example purchasing raw materials, goods and services mainly in the area in which we manufacture and thereby creating value for the region.
PROGRAM FOR DISADVANTAGED YOUNG PEOPLE
Through a special training program we provide targeted support for young people with limited school education in Mexico and Brazil. Our multi-year program enables them to get their career off to a successful start. At our Brazil site alone, for example, a total of 70 young people had completed the program up to 2018.
SUPPORT FOR THE ENDOWED CHAIR IN “LIGHTWEIGHT CONSTRUCTION"
We not only want to know how lightweight products may look in the generation after next, but we also apply actual research results and innovative solutions in practice. For more than 10 years we have therefore invested in collaboration with the University of Paderborn and financed the endowed chair in “Lightweight Construction".
FOR THE REGION: HEAT GENERATION FOR PADERBORN
Turning future visions into reality: we will soon meet 50% of the heating requirement of public buildings in the largest district of Paderborn. How do we do that? We use dedicated infrastructure that draws waste heat from the BENTELER process furnaces and feeds it into the city’s district heating network. Long-term collaboration that generates added value for citizens and the environment.
