BENTELER focuses on solar power: New photovoltaic system commissioned at Burgos site
Burgos, October 07, 2025. With the commissioning of a new photovoltaic system at its Burgos site, BENTELER is underlining its commitment to sustainable industrial production. Over the next 15 years, the system will supply up to 5,738 megawatt hours (MWh) of renewable energy annually – enough to cover the electricity needs of over 1,600 households.
Partnership for green energy
The project was realized in collaboration with the multinational energy company GreenYellow, which is responsible for financing and operation. The local company Abasol was responsible for construction. The plant is connected directly to the factory via a one-kilometer-long high-voltage cable and uses single-axis tracking technology to make optimum use of solar radiation.
Contribution to the net-zero strategy
The new photovoltaic system is part of BENTELER's comprehensive sustainability strategy, which aims to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050. With this project, the Burgos site is making an important contribution to decarbonization and long-term competitiveness – both for the company and for the region.
The city of Burgos also supports the project and sees it as a positive impetus for the local energy transition and the industrial sector.
