20 years of BENTELER Changchun – innovation driver in China's automotive industry

Changchun, July, 14th. A special anniversary: Our Changchun plant celebrates its 20th anniversary in 2025. As the first BENTELER joint venture in northeastern China, it has not only accompanied the rapid development of the Chinese automotive industry since it was founded in 2005, but has also actively helped shape it. 

BENTELER Changchun combines the best of two worlds: German engineering and deep roots in one of China's most important automotive regions. This combination has made the location a driving force for innovation over two decades – for our customers as well as for the market as a whole. 

Changchun has always been at the forefront of technological developments: 

•In 2005, the first hot-forming line in China started operation here. 

•In 2011, the first hydroform line followed in the Asia-Pacific region. 

•In 2024, the factory once again set new standards in terms of innovation and sustainability with a newly developed, particularly lightweight aluminum bumper.

Today, the plant faces the intense competitive environment with resilience, customer proximity and forward-looking projects – for example, through new production lines for aluminum components.
