BENTELER expands again its Schwandorf plant

Schwandorf/Paderborn, October 28, 2020. BENTELER is expanding the production area at its Schwandorf location by approximately 7,500 square meters. This corresponds to slightly more than a soccer field. The plant is part of the company’s Automotive Division. Here, BENTELER will produce battery trays for a further German automotive manufacturer. The plant is one of the largest employers in Schwandorf: BENTELER employs about 650 people here.

The finalization of the expansion is planned for autumn 2020 and production is expected to begin by mid 2021. This is the second expansion in a very short time. The plant site already increased its production area by around 50 percent in October 2018 when the company started producing battery trays in Germany.

Lightweight construction expertise from BENTELER is in demand

"We in Schwandorf are experts in lightweight construction. We are delighted that another well-known customer is relying on our expertise and that we are therefore able to expand our plant once again," says Helmut Ascher, plant manager at the Schwandorf site. Due to its low weight, aluminum plays a major role in the production of battery trays. This is where BENTELER's material expertise in complex lightweight construction solutions comes into its own.
