BENTELER Automotive and Changchun FAWAY Automobile Components establish joint venture in Tianjin (China)

Tianjin, China, June 6th, 2018: BENTELER Automotive and FAWAY Automobile Components Co., Ltd, a subsidiary of the Chinese state-owned enterprise First Automotive Works (FAW) Group, have established a joint venture (JV). The signing ceremony of the JV contract was held in Tianjin, China, on June 4th, 2018. The event marks the official starting point of the new company FAWAY BENTELER Automotive Components (Tianjin) Co., Ltd. With the joint venture, BENTELER Automotive continues to optimally match local customers’ demands and to strengthen its footprint in the Asia/Pacific growth region.

Via our joint venture with FAWAY, we continue to align our production with local customer requirements and to develop solutions which optimally match their needs,” says Laurent Favre, CEO BENTELER Automotive.

The companies’ new plant in Tianjin will be put into operation in June 2018. It will cover an area of 29,000 square meters, of which 26,000 square meters will serve as a production area. Production will focus on press, hot forming and aluminum parts as well as chassis systems for FAW’s joint ventures VW, Audi, Toyota and its local brand Hongqi, Benteng. The new plant will employ more than 120 people, increasing to more than 400 by 2020.
